The festival will run for three days at Nghe Temple, An Bien communal house, and General Le Chan monument.
The highlight of this year's festival are two processions involving 1,500 people who performed traditional rituals: playing folk instruments and carrying flower palanquins, parasols, and hammock palanquins. The processions started at Nghe Temple, An Bien communal house and stopped at the Monument of General Le Chan, about 1km long.
During the festival, there are special cultural and sports activities: rural market, display of orchids, ornamental creatures, human chess, and folk games.
Le Thi Huong, a resident of Hai Phong city who came to watch the traditional festival of General Le Chan, said: “The festival is taking place in a few days thoughtfully and carefully. Her procession was very solemn. I am very proud of our national culture.”
The traditional festival of General Le Chan was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2016.
