Director of the OPCW, Ahmet Uzumcu, said the amount of chemicals transported to the Syrian port of Latakia for shipping so far was not that high, only around 5%. Mr. Uzumcu attributed the delays to technical problems and the obvious difficulties of operating in a warzone in Syria, calling for the cooperation from the opposition forces in Syria in this process. He added that the most pressing concern is to ensure absolute safety for the transportation of these weapons from Syrian facilities to Latakia.
