The protesters chanted slogans of freedom and democracy despite the fact that the Thai junta deployed security forces to disperse demonstrators. The same day, Thai Former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra delivered a message of gratitude to her supporters. This is the first message from Yingluck to the Thai people since the coup. Media sources said Yingluck is still in Bangkok under the close watch of the National Council for Peace and Order and is not permitted to go abroad.
