She said all the armed forces commanders had learned lessons from the past and would consider the long-term consequences. She stressed the importance of negotiations as the best solution to the political unrest.

On Monday, Army Chief Prayuth Chan-ocha said the government would be held responsible if violence breaks out on January 13, when the protesters plan to blockade the capital. Yingluck insists that the government try to avoid clashes and says no weapons will be allowed in rally areas on that day.
