New political parties, after registration on Thursday, can organize meetings to discuss important issues like charters, Chan-ocha said, adding that any further activity will need the NCPO’s approval. Already active parties are not allowed to hold meetings, he noted.

The Thai PM said the bills on MP elections and senator selection, after they are passed in March, will be submitted for royal endorsement. The laws are expected to come into effect in June, after which a 150-day countdown to the general election will begin.
