Damascus said the continuation of the coalition’s massacres of Syrian people is aimed at undermining Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and prolonging the crisis in Syria. The letter also accused Washington of systematic support for the Islamic State.
The Ministry urged the UN Security Council to take responsibility for international peace and security, prevent the recurrence of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the coalition, and put an end to its illegitimate presence on Syrian soil.
The US-led coalition of more than 70 members has been conducting military operations against ISIS in Syria and Iraq since September 2014. The coalition's strikes in Iraq have been conducted without permission from President Bashar al-Assad’s government or the UN Security Council.
