(VOVWORLD) - Journalists must stay updated to produce works that are modern and creative in both content and presentation, State President Luong Cuong said at a meeting on Friday with outstanding journalists nationwide on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).

The history of Vietnam’s revolutionary press began with Thanh Nien newspaper, founded by late President Ho Chi Minh on June 21, 1925.

Since then, Vietnamese journalists have worked tirelessly to hone their skills, accompany the nation in its development, and contribute to Vietnam’s historic achievements, said the President.

As Vietnam is entering a new era, the revolutionary press must be aware of its mission and embrace new media trends, he said.

President Cuong urged relevant government agencies to coordinate, research, and propose solutions to improve mechanisms and policies that incentivize journalists and media professionals to stay committed to their craft.
"We must also recognize and train dedicated and young journalists, so that they can become ‘revolutionary soldiers on the ideological and cultural front,’ as President Ho Chi Minh once put it,” said Mr. Cuong.
