The festivities run from Tuesday to Thursday (or the 15th-17th days of the 9th lunar month), including the moon worshipping ceremony; a trade fair to promote local products; an exhibition of Khmer cultural artifacts, photos, and books; and a Khmer boat decorating contest. This year, 4,000 athletes participated in the Ngo boat race on the Cai Lon river to the cheers of tens of thousands spectators.
Le Trung Ho, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, said, “Today’s event is both a celebration and a reminder that preserving our cultural identity is preserving the nation’s roots. To promote culture is to light up hope for the future."
The same day, Vinh Long province's celebration of the Ok Om Bok Festival at the Ba Om pond National Relic Site attracted thousands of Khmer people, local residents, and tourists. The festival, as part of the Ok Om Bok Culture, Sports, and Tourism Week 2025, will feature a water lantern release on Wednesday's evening.
