(VOVworld) - At least 100 people were killed and further 50 seriously injured after an oil tanker exploded in South Sudan on Thursday, said the Sudan’s Minister of Information Charles Kisagna. The blast took place as the crowd was trying to gather fuel from the crashed vehicle, which was traveling from Juba to Maridi. The death toll is expected to increase since dozens of people suffer from critically burnt.

South Sudan is experiencing a serious economic crisis due to the ongoing civil war since 2013, which has caused rampant inflation and soaring prices of basics, including food and energy.
