The long wait-list is a testament to the appeal of the Son Doong Expedition Tour, Oxalis said. It also shows that there is a growing demand for a sustainable blend of experiential tourism and exploring pristine nature.
The tour will help promote Vietnam’s tourism globally and motivate Quang Tri province to continue preserving and protecting the unique ecosystem of Son Doong Cave and the Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park.
Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park receives about 50,000 adventure tourists each year, reinforcing its position as the world’s leading hub for cave exploration.
Despite having the highest cumulative visitor numbers over the past 12 years, Vietnamese travelers now account for only about 16.5% of annual visitors, down from 2019 levels. Oxalis said international tourists tend to book far in advance, while many Vietnamese travelers opt for overseas trips at similar price points.
