(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s new cabinet was sworn into office before President Tony Tan on Thursday. At the swearing-in ceremony, PM Lee Hsien Loong said the new cabinet will provide efficient government for Singapore. He explained the need to appoint Coordinating Ministers as Singapore is facing complex challenges that require fresh and bold ideas, the careful balancing of different goals, and close coordination across multiple agencies. PM Lee said his cabinet combines experienced and new ministers, including young fourth-generation leaders. He said his responsibility is not just to govern well, but to prepare the next generation of leaders. President Tony Tan touched on the issue of trust, saying that the trust of the people is precious and that office-holders must constantly strive to deserve it. The swearing-in ceremony was led by Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon and witnessed by 700 guests.
