(VOVworld)- The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Japan Economic Foundation (JEF) organized a seminar on industry strategies and developing industrial clusters in Hanoi yesterday/ on Thursday. At the seminar, delegates noted that Vietnam achieved a GDP growth rate of 7% between 1990 and 2012. However, the growth model and industrialization process of Vietnam face many barriers and challenges. Growth depends on cheap labor but productivity has not improved much.  Industry has expanded with a great variety of goods, but productivity is still very low. Many delegates commented on the urgent need for Vietnam to develop  high potential industries, develop human resources and innovate in the private sector, and –most importantly—develop policies for macro-economic growth and equalizing the allocation of income.
