Speaking in a conference in Đông Hà City, Quảng Trị province in Monday to publicize the assessment of the actual state of the sea environment from Hà Tĩnh to Thừa Thiên - Huế, Trần Hồng Hà, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, said at the event that the serious environmental incident in April killed a large amount of fish in four central provinces. On 28th June, the Formosa Hà Tĩnh Steel Corporation (FHS) admitted its responsibility for the massive fish deaths, publicly apologized for such violations and admitted to compensate affected people.

Based on seafood samples taken from the four affected provinces, the test results show that the content of some contaminated substances in seafood products has gradually reduced. In the future, the Health Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will jointly supervise the seafood caught at the so-called safe sea areas announced by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
