Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) said the fishing industry needs to focus more on quality and brand building. 

“The Vietnamese government and businesses must work together to meet the requirements of European and American import control programs," he said, "If we succeed, our competitiveness will be improved.”

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said: “We need to ensure standards and guide localities in implementing the 2017 Fisheries Law. Strong steps must be taken to remove the European Commission’s yellow card in order to enhance sustainability and efficiency of the fisheries sector.”
