At the meeting in Bamako, Mali, on Sunday, leaders of G5 Sahel agreed to form a joint force to fight terrorism and start capital disbursement to launch this force in September or October. The European Union has already pledged 50 million euros to support the new force and the G5 Sahel presidents have pledged to contribute 10 million euros.
French President Emmanuel Macron at the meeting in Mali promised support for a new multinational force against extremists in Africa's vast Sahel region. France will provide military support for operations, and communications and security equipment worth 8 million euros.
