President Putin told a parliament meeting that the constitutional amendment is for Russia’s long-term prosperity. He said that abolishing presidential term limits is impractical because power shifts are necessary for a country’s dynamism. He said: “Theoretically, such an amendment is possible only with the Russian Federation Court’s confirmation that it does not contradict Russia’s Constitution and fundamental laws.”
A bill laying out the constitutional amendment will be voted on for the 3rd time on Wednesday before being submitted to the Russian Federation Council.
