Zakharova said if force is used and if the situation develops the way the US president is threatening, it will be a real catastrophe. According to Zakharova, the United States seems not to understand the consequences of armed conflict, which will affect all the countries in the region.

In related news, US Central Intelligence Agency Director Mike Pompeo said he believes North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will continue to develop his missile program. He said that North Korea’s push to develop a nuclear-tipped ballistic missile capable of hitting the United States is “a very serious threat and the administration is going to treat it as such”. However, Mr. Pompeo declined to say how long it will be before North Korea could carry out such a nuclear attack on the US mainland.
