European countries on Sunday decided to close their airspace to Russian planes and airlines.

European Union countries are expected to approve a new package of sanctions against Russia and discuss sending weapons and fuel to Ukraine.

The G7 leaders announced on the same day that the Western allies decided to remove several Russian banks from the SWIFT global payment system.
