Ambassador Andrey G.Kovtun said Russia-Vietnam relations are expanding in science, technology, education, culture and tourism. Regarding politics, Kovtun said that Russia considers promoting cooperation with Vietnam one of the priorities in its diplomatic policy in Asia. The two countries have seen positive results in economic and trade cooperation with the two-way trade turnover reaching 3.15 billion USD and the export turnover to Russia estimated at 2.24 billion USD in 2013. The two-way trade turnover between Russia and Vietnam is expected to rise up to 7 billion USD by 2015 and 10 billion USD by 2020. Ambassador Andrey Kovtun said:" Our relationship is based on mutual understanding, respecting the traditions and friendship of the two countries. I hope that our fine relations will continue to develop. This is very important as the development of multi-faceted relations between Russia and Vietnam is in line with the benefits of the two countries for our economic and technological advancement and for peace and stability in Asia-Pacific region".

Kovtun added that the focus in Russia-Vietnam cooperation is energy especially oil and gas industry.
