(VOVWORLD) - Russia says it will continue working with the UN to ensure global food security, but it is necessary to adjust the Black Sea Grain Initiative to ensure more food supplies go to the world’s poorest countries in Asia and Africa.

Addressing a press conference on Monday following political consultations between Russia and Turkey in Istanbul, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said Russia applauded the efforts of the UN, but the US and the EU need to lift restrictions on Russian agricultural exports.

Moscow needs concrete results to ensure agricultural exports, including the reconnection of Russian banks to the international system payment (SWIFT) and will continue working with the UN on this issue, Vershinin said.
