Russia, NATO agree on ambassador-level talks

(VOVworld) – NATO said on Friday that the NATO-Russia Council, which has not met since 2014, will convene in the next two weeks in Brussels to discuss the Ukraine crisis.

The meeting will discuss the crisis in and around Ukraine and the need to fully implement the Minsk agreements.

Both sides will discuss military activities, with particular focus on transparency and risk reduction. Also high on the agenda will be Afghanistan and regional threats.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the move signals the break of frozen ties between Russia and NATO over the past two years.

NATO suspended all practical cooperation with Russia in April 2014 due to Russia's action in Ukraine, including the annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula in March 2014.
