The agreement envisages the construction of a cross-border section of gas pipeline, starting at a gas measuring station (GIS) near Dalnerechensk in Russia, crossing the Ussuri River, and ending at the Hulin launch station in China.
According to the website of the Russian Ministry of Energy, the opening of the Far East gas pipeline will increase the volume of natural gas supplied to China by 10 billion cubic meters per year.
Earlier, Russian energy corporation Gazprom said that when the project is completed, Russia’s gas exports to China will total 48 billion cubic meters per year, including the gas supplied through the Power of Siberia pipeline.
