The Mekong Delta and the Southeast region have a limited supply of cold storage systems now catering for only 30% of market demand.

The Vietnamese side has requested EU sponsorship of 5 smart cold warehouses in 5 Mekong Delta provinces towards more than 100 warehouses by 2030 for exports to Europe and the Middle East.

Le Quang Thanh represents a maritime construction consultancy company: "The warehouse system should be made available around gardening areas for fruits preservation in the Mekong Delta to facilitate transport and harvest services. It should be located near roads and ports for multimedia transport on major hubs in Hau River."

A well-developed smart cold logistics chain is expected to reduce cost and improve competitiveness for Vietnamese vegetable and fruit exports.
