Colonel Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Head of Air Defense Force Military Training Division 372 said, "The aid was delivered by helicopter. Hundreds of soldiers, policemen, and volunteers waded through flood waters to distribute the aid to those in need."
Molave, one of the most powerful storms to hit Vietnam, made landfall in Quang Nam and Quang Ngai province last Wednesday, bringing heavy rains and deadly landslides to the region, already battered by multiple storms and historic flooding.
At least 33 people have been killed and 49 others are missing, according to the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disasters Prevention and Control.
Molave caused economic damage worth around 430 million USD, according to statistics from affected provinces. The damage was nearly 1.5 times higher than last year’s total natural disaster-induced loss of 302 million USD, mostly due to floods, storms and landslides.
