Do Ngoc Duong, Director of the nature reserve’s management board, said that the survey result shows that the locations where traces of muntjac species are spotted are far from residential areas and trails.
Currently, these species are inhabiting at altitudes of 400-800 metres on mountain slopes, and quite close to water sources.
In the coming time, the unit will continue surveying to define the number of muntjacs, and then put forward measures to preserve these rare animals, Duong said.
In addition, forest rangers will exert efforts to improve the awareness of local people and authorities of preserving muntjac species by providing information on boards, and via posters, leaflets, and a video clip.
