(VOV) – Ha Long Carnival 2013 will take place on Saturday.

Under the theme “The colors of Quang Ninh – Convergence and Pervasion”, the event aims to introduce domestic and foreign visitors to Ha Long Bay, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, and to the colorful cultural heritage of the 22 ethnic groups in Quang Ninh province.  The event will comprise an opening ceremony, art performances on stage, and a carnival parade. At a press conference on Tuesday, Trinh Dang Thanh, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: "All activities have been organized by the 22 ethnic groups, who will bring to the event their different colorful cultural characteristics. 7 years ago, the Carnival was held at the old ferry. This year’s event will take place in Hong Thang district whose large open space will allow  many people to take part".

3,500 artists from domestic art troupes plus others from Guangxi, China, and Luongprabang, Laos, will perform.
