PVN urged to flexibly deal with energy issues

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday held a working session with the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) to discuss the group’s performance in the first two months and plans for this year.

The Prime Minister asked PVN to quickly and flexibly adapt to and deal with impacts of complicated, unprecedented geo-politics and strategic competitions concerning oil and gas activities.

He said the group needs to fine-tune its energy development strategy and the development strategy of the oil and gas sector and at the same time work out scenarios for any situation.

He urged the group to consider increasing investment to gain greater profit. The Prime Minister suggested PVN tap advantages of offshore oil and gas activities to develop offshore wind power.

He said PVN should engage in designing the power plan VIII and work closely with relevant agencies to ensure national defense, security, economic security and energy balance to contribute to enhancing an independent, self-reliant economy.
