Prime Minister receives Apple CEO Tim Cook

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has acknowledged Apple’s important contributions to Vietnam’s development, particularly its support for Vietnam to engage more in Apple’s global supply chain.

At a meeting with visiting CEO Tim Cook in Hanoi on Tuesday, Prime Minister Chinh urged Apple to support calling for the United States’ early recognition of Vietnam’s market economy and removal of the Southeast Asian nation from its high-tech export restriction list.

He asked the tech giant to expand investment cooperation with Vietnam, helping the country to participate more deeply in its domestic and global production, supply, and value chains.

Impressed by Vietnam’s development and the presence of Apple products in Vietnam, Cook, who is visiting Vietnam for the first time, said there is still significant room for expanded cooperation between the two sides, and that better results can be achieved in the future.

Apple hopes to further strengthen investment in the Vietnam, particularly in developing high-tech products and applications, said the CEO.

He noted Apple is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in energy transition toward net-zero emissions by 2050, and to participate in exporting Vietnamese cultural values to the world through its products and applications available on the App Store.
