President Biden said he personally always has lots of feelings for the country and the people of Vietnam and that the US, as a leading developed country, is eager to cooperate with and assist developing and less developed countries in many areas, including economic and trade development, disease prevention and climate change response.
Discussing regional and global issues of mutual concern, President Biden agreed with Prime Minister Chinh on respecting independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political institutions among countries, non-use of force, peaceful settlement of disputes and conflicts on the basis of international law and the UN Charter, and freedom of navigation and overflight in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
