In a telegram on Tuesday, the Prime Minister instructed local authorities in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and other affected provinces to quickly reach isolated areas, search for the missing, treat the injured, and support residents in repairing homes. Temporary shelters, food, water, clothing, and other essentials must be provided to ensure no one is left hungry, cold, or homeless.
He also ordered the urgent repair of damaged schools and healthcare facilities before August 30, and the rapid clearance of blocked roads to restore safe transport and relief operations. Emergency forces, supplies, and equipment must remain on standby to help people recover.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, as of 3 p.m. Tuesday, the storm and floods left 7 dead, 1 missing, and 34 injured. Over 8,700 homes and schools were damaged, nearly 21,000 trees uprooted, and many roads, irrigation works, power lines, and telecom networks disrupted.
In Nghe An province, the local authorities are focused on saving agricultural production. Nguyen Truong Thanh, Chief of Office of the Nghe An provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, said: "We’re now focusing on releasing water in areas flooded by the storm. For the time being, major drainage systems, including large sluices and pumping stations, are operating at full capacity. Within three to five days, production activities can be resumed."
In Ha Tinh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Trong Hai requested the mobilization of on-site forces; the immediate deployment of support teams to repair classrooms, clean up schools, and ensure school safety before the new school year begins.
