Talking to the media on the 60th anniversary of the nations’ diplomatic relations (September 5), President Phuc said the two sides have maintained the exchange of high-ranking delegations and meetings in all channels, utilized bilateral cooperation mechanisms of agencies and localities, and closely coordinated and supported each other at multilateral forums.
Two-way trade in the first eight months of this year exceeded 1 billion USD, up more than 20% year-on-year, he said.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc added he believes that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos will continue to be nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, bloom and bear sweet fruit, bringing benefits to the two peoples.
Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith told the media that the relationship between Laos and Vietnam is not only between close comrades and brothers but also the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, which will persist with the people of the two countries.
Laos and Vietnam will continue to move forward together, help each other, share experiences, knowledge and skills, and create conditions for each other to develop, the Lao top leader said and expected that all people of Laos and Vietnam will continue the legacy of their predecessors and strive to cultivate this special relationship forever green.
