With the two countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations on September 5, Ambassador Hung said.
“Throughout a history of thousands of years, Laotians and Vietnamese have lived together in peace and helped each other, establishing a very natural relationship between the two peoples. This relationship and cooperation is special because it is based on mutual help, goodwill, and impartiality and is not swayed by the ideology of big or small countries or self-interest," Mr. Hung said, adding"Both truly respect each other, have equal relations with each other, which is completely consistent with the basic principles of international law. We have maintained our special solidarity, great friendship and comprehensive cooperation despite global and regional complicated fluctuations.”
This year, Vietnam and Laos are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962), and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (July 18, 1977). Making 2022 a special year of solidarity between the two countries conveys an important message about the close relationship between Vietnam and Laos, Ambassador Hung said.
