Presidents of India, Russia discuss bilateral issues

(VOVWORLD) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin talked on the phone on Friday, reviewing progress in bilateral cooperation and exchanging views on regional and global issues of mutual interests.

During the talk, particular attention was paid to interaction within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the G20, in which India currently holds the presidency and Russia is a member, the Kremlin said. The leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine, where Prime Minister Modi reiterated his call for dialogue and diplomacy. Modi also shared details of his recent visit to the US.

President Putin assessed the current situation regarding Russia's special military operation in Ukraine and stressed Kyiv's utter refusal to undertake political and diplomatic steps to resolve the conflict, the Kremlin said.

India's Foreign Ministry said, both leaders agreed to remain in touch and continue to make efforts to further strengthen Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
