President visits Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Supreme Patriarch

(VOVWORLD) -President Tran Dai Quang on Thursday paid a visit to Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) on the occasion of the Buddha’s 2561st Birthday Festival.

The President extended greetings to Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue and all Buddhist dignitaries, monks,  nuns, and followers Vietnam. He spoke highly of the practical and significant contributions the VBS and all monks, nuns and followers have made to the nation’s great unity, national defence and development over the past years.

“The Vietnamese Party and State pursue a consistent policy of respecting the freedom of religion and facilitating religious practice of religious people and hope that Buddhist dignitaries and followers continue to contribute to national development. We hope that the Patronage Council and the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha continue to lead Buddhist dignitaries and followers to accompany national development", he said.

President Quang expressed his hope that Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue will continue to lead the VBS under the motto of “Religion – Nation – Socialism” while actively contributing to the nation’s development.
