(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang attended the Vietnam-Germany Business Forum in Frankfurt on Thursday. Representatives of 30 Vietnamese businesses and 100 German businesses, including major economic groups, attended the forum. President Sang said that now that Vietnam and Germany have become strategic partners economic cooperation should be a top priority. He said that Vietnam will continue to improve its investment environment to facilitate foreign investors’ long-term operations in Vietnam. He said that the establishment of the ASEAN Community and the completion of negotiations on a number of free trade agreements, including the TPP and the EU-Vietnam FTA, will create new opportunities for foreign investors and improve Vietnam’s investment environment and competitiveness. He said he hopes Vietnamese and German businesses will contribute to promoting the Vietnam-Germany economic cooperation and strategic partnership: “Vietnamese and German businesses have had open and practical discussions. I believe that they will play an important role in fostering economic ties and the strategic partnership between the two countries. Hessen and Frankfurt are important gateways for Vietnam to access the German and European market. Vietnam is ready to help German businesses and businesses in Hessen to access markets in ASEAN and Asia-Pacific.”
German businesses hailed Vietnam’s potential and advantages. A number of German economic groups said they consider Vietnam one of the most important markets in their investment strategy in Asia.
President Sang also met with leaders of some German groups such as Siemens, Messer, Braun, and Bombadier to discuss their investments in Vietnam.
He has concluded his state visit to Germany, which sought to create new momentum for the two countries’ strategic partnership.
