At a plenary session of the Russian Popular Front (ONF) Action Forum on Tuesday, President Vladimir Putin said all domestic manufacturers will benefit if the embargo on importing food from the EU countries continues, so Moscow will try to keep the embargo ongoing as long as possible. Mr. Putin noted that Russian consumers like high quality products at low prices so competition should be encouraged. He said Russia can definitely turn the EU’s sanctions to its advantage.

Ukraine related conflicts between Russia and the EU have led to sanctions by the EU on Russia. Russia has taken countermeasures against the EU, including an embargo on importing food and agricultural products from the EU.
