(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang has congratulated Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, and Buddhist followers for their contributions to the development of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh city. On Thursday Sang paid a Lunar New Year (Tet) visit to Quang, who is Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Shangha and Head of the managing committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha. The President spoke highly of the 2013 visit to the US by Vietnamese high-ranking leaders, including Most Venerable Quang. Following the visit Vietnam was elected as member of the UN Human Rights Council.

Paying Tet visit to Priest Nguyen Cong Danh, President of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, President Sang expressed his delight at the improved living standards of Catholic followers:“During national construction and defense, great solidarity is the original strength of our nation. Religious followers and non-religious followers are united to build the country”.


On Thursday, President Sang visited People’s Artist of Cai luong (renovated opera)  Vien Chau and actress Tra Giang. He acknowledged their suggestions on further investment in arts and literature.
