White House spokesperson Josh Earnest told the press that the US wants to apologize and take responsibility for the mistake. He had decided earlier to issue an apology to MSF while admitting that the Kunduz bombing was a disaster. President Obama promised that Washington will provide a transparent, thorough, and objective account of the facts and circumstances of the incident and implement changes that will make tragedies like this one less likely to occur in the future.
