(VOVWORLD) -President Luong Cuong, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived in Cairo on Sunday afternoon, starting their state visit to Egypt at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his spouse.

President Cuong’s visit is taking place in the context of positive development of Vietnam-Egypt relations. This is the first visit to Egypt by a key Vietnamese leader in seven years and an important foreign political event of the two countries, which holds strategic significance, with long-term impacts on the development of bilateral ties as the two countries are entering a new era of development.

Later on Sunday, President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation had a working session with Vietnamese Ambassadors to African countries.

The President emphasized that the relationship between Vietnam and Middle Eastern and African countries has made visible progress and that there is great potential for cooperation and expansion of Vietnam's interests in the region.

He asked the Ambassadors to continue to foster and consolidate political trust between Vietnam and African countries, considering this a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in other fields, demonstrating sincerity to enter a new stage of development together.
