President decides to commute sentences for 11 convicts

(VOVWORLD) - Exercising the State President's duties and authority stipulated in the Constitution and law and considering the proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy and the Head of the President Office, President Vo Van Thuong on Wednesday decided to reduce the death penalty to life imprisonment for 11 convicts.

The decision demonstrates the lenient, humanitarian policy of the Vietnamese Party and State for the prisoners, paving the way for them to live, to rehabilitate, and to have an opportunity to return to their families and the community.
