The Libyan Supreme Election Commission yesterday announced preliminary results of last Saturday’s parliamentary election. Former Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril’s National Forces Alliance is leading. At a press conference in Tripoli Supreme Election Commission Chairman Nuri al Abbar said over 60% of registered voters cast ballots. Libya’s new 200-seat parliament is tasked with forming a new government to replace the National Transitional Council and writing a new constitution for a nation wide referendum. Final election results will come in tomorrow.
