PM urges Vietnam, Belgium to increase trade to 3 billion USD

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received newly accredited Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Paul Jansen in Hanoi on Friday. 

The Prime Minister praised the development of bilateral ties in recent years highlighting the two-way trade value of 2.3 billion USD in the last 10 months of this year and a large number of Belgian enterprises in Vietnam. He asked the ambassador to bring into play his role to contribute to raising bilateral trade to 3 billion USD in the near future. The Prime Minister urged the two countries to strengthen cooperation in education and human resource training. He said Vietnam has prepared for the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement and wants Belgium to support the signing and ratification of the agreement.

The Belgian diplomat said Belgian enterprises wanted to expand investment in Vietnam and asked the Vietnamese government to exempt visa for Belgian citizens to Vietnam to further promote tourism and cultural exchanges.
