(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged the banking sector to focus on keeping inflation rate lower than in 2012. At  the year-end meeting of the banking sector on Wednesday in Hanoi, PM Dung said the sector needs to adopt flexible policies on interest rates and credits in accordance with macro-economic developments and inflation control targets. He also called for more efforts to provide businesses with loans, and assist economic growth. The PM asked the State Bank of Vietnam to ensure the liquidity and operation of credit organization system and the economy, giving priorities to agriculture, rural areas, exports, support industry and small and medium-sized enterprises. He also called on the State Bank to work closely with relevant agencies to work out measures to support businesses, while tightening the management of exchange rates, foreign exchanges and gold markets and ensuring the value of Vietnamese dong, contributing to macro-economic stabilization.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung said:“The State Bank needs to work harder to accomplish its tasks and functions, including state management and monetary policy making. First of all, the mother bank needs to perform better in monetary policy management, which will be more flexible, effective and closer to life. All are to achieve the goal of keeping inflation lower than in 2012. This is the determination of the Party, the National Assembly and the Government.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung presented Labour Order, second and third classes, to collectives and individuals for their outstanding achievements in the banking sector.
