PM underscores Vietnam-Korea similarities in his address at Seoul National University

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday said that Korea has a saying "education is a hundred-year plan", Vietnam defines "education top national policy", showing that both countries value education and training.

During his official visit to the Republic of Korea, Prime Minister Chinh on Wednesday delivered a policy statement to a large number of professors, lecturers and students at the Seoul National University.

Prime Minister recalled the historical link between Vietnam and Korea in the 12th and 13th centuries when two Vietnamese Ly clans settled in Korea. He affirmed that over the past three decades, the two countries’ relations have continuously developed, becoming a model for good relations between the two East Asian countries, with an unprecedented level of successful cooperation.

PM Chinh emphasized that Vietnam and Korea have five major similarities. They include similarity in history, with cultural exchanges dating back more than 800 years ago; similarity in aspirations for national development through integration and openness; similarity in way of thinking so both are easy to sympathize each other; similarity in people-to-people exchanges with increasingly close in-law relationships; and similarity in aspirations to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The Prime Minister also answered questions from professors, lecturers, graduates, and students of Seoul National University about national governance experiences and vision and solutions to promote Vietnam - Korea relationship.

Seoul National University is a symbol of high-quality Korean education, is Asia's leading university and renowned the world. The University consists of 24 member schools and enrolls more than 30,000 students annually, including 50 Vietnamese. This is the cradle of training prominent leaders: President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Seok Yeol, Prime Minister Han Duck Soo, and former Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki Moon.
