He introduced to the students at Waikato University Vietnam’s dynamic development and international integration and told them that developing high-quality human resources is one of the three strategic breakthroughs Vietnam needs to become a modern industrial country.

Mr. Phuc said: “We want to step up cooperation in education to learn from training models with high applicability like the University of Waikato. Graduate and post-graduate training cooperation between the University of Waikato, the Hanoi Law University, and Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City is fruitful. Many Vietnamese cadres have participated in training courses to improve their qualifications and acquire a new way of thinking.”

Mr. Phuc touched on issues related to education and training cooperation, IT development policies, and the 4th Industrial Revolution. He then answered queries about prospects for Vietnam-New Zealand relations after the CPTPP takes effect.

According to Mr. Phuc: “The CPTPP is a new-generation agreement with many norms to which Vietnam and New Zealand are signatories. The trade pact is scheduled to take effect in 2019 and will open up new cooperation among countries in the enforcement of the agreement. The deal encompasses more than 500 million people and 13% of the world GDP. It creates new conditions for the growth of the 11 CPTPP countries, including Vietnam and New Zealand.”
