During a Lunar New Year meeting with 20 EU ambassadors and chargé d'affaires in Hanoi on Thursday, PM Chinh urged the participants to encourage the prompt ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and boost cooperation in green transition, digital transformation, transportation infrastructure, science, technology, and innovation.
Vietnam, he said, will continue to facilitate visa procedures for citizens of other countries, including the EU.
The PM stressed that Vietnam is aggressively working to improve the legal framework for combating IUU fishing, tracing the origin of seafood, monitoring fishing vessels, and punishing violations.
Vietnam is ready to cooperate closely with the EC inspection team, he said, asking EU countries to acknowledge Vietnam's efforts and support the lifting of the ‘yellow card’ and Vietnam's development of a modern, sustainable fisheries sector.

Regarding the fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, he said that Vietnam is aggressively implementing measures to improve the legal framework, control the origin of seafood, monitor fishing vessels, and strictly handle violations.
The EU diplomats reaffirmed commitments to strengthening the partnership with Vietnam in all areas and promised to coordinate EVFTA implementation and boost cooperation in investment, science, technology, and green growth, which are EU strengths.
They said EU countries acknowledge Vietnam’s efforts to combat IUU fishing, and will continue to help the country develop sustainable fisheries.
