Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspects progress of the Lien Chieu port project, Da Nang, September 1, 2024. |
PM Chinh agreed on the need for land reclamation to expand development space and emphasized the importance of carefully selecting the materials required for reclamation.
The reclaimed area must be utilized according to its designated function, adhering to the criteria for a free trade zone, with the most favorable locations reserved for business and production activities, he said.
During a fact-finding tour of the Lien Chieu port project, PM Chinh commended the progress of the development of the infrastructure to be used for both Lien Chieu port and an associated coastal road.
Lien Chieu, one of three deep-water ports in Vietnam, is designed as a special port capable of handling general cargo ships and bulk carriers of up to 100,000 tons, as well as container ships with a capacity of 6,000 to 8,000 TEUs.
The PM urged parties involved to ensure the completion of the shared infrastructure by August 30, 2025.
