Speaking with leaders of ministries, sectors, and localities on Saturday after inspecting the progress of the Gia Bình International Airport project and related projects as well as the road linking the airport with Hanoi, the PM said the airport is expected to be built as a smart, modern, and civilized aviation hub, stressing the development of an open and internationally integrated airport economic zone.

According to the Prime Minister, the airport and its ecosystem will open new development space for Bac Ninh and Hanoi, while strengthening connectivity with Hai Phong and Quang Ninh Province. It will also improve modern transport links in the Red River Delta, connecting the region with southwestern provinces of China and with international maritime routes.

The airport is planned to handle 30 million passengers and 1.6 million tons of cargo annually by 2030, rising to 50 million passengers and 2.5 million tons of cargo per year by 2050.
In the initial phase from 2025 to 2027, key infrastructure will be completed to serve the APEC Summit 2027.
