In a meeting with French President Francois Hollande, the two men hailed cooperation results achieved in recent years to realize the Vietnam-France strategic partnership. They discussed a number of international issues and pledged coordination in organizing the 21st Conference on Climate Change scheduled for 2015 in Paris.

President Hollande stressed the importance of ensuring peace, stability and development in the Asia-Pacific region, guaranteeing safe and free navigation, and resolving disputes through peaceful means in accordance with international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

At a meeting with Italian PM Matteo Renzi, who is the current EU President and ASEM Chair, Prime Minister Dung and Renzi agreed to make economic cooperation a pillar of their strategic partnership. They said relevant agencies should promote economic cooperation and enhance connectivity between businesses to boost two-way trade to 5 billion USD by 2015. They emphasized the need for a consultation mechanism between ministries and sectors in all areas of cooperation. 

PM Matteo said Italy supports maritime safety, security, and freedom, and settling disputes by peaceful means on the basis of respect for international law and the UNCLOS. He said Italy advocates strengthening relations between Vietnam and the EU by accelerating ratification of the PCA and recognizing Vietnam’s full market economy at the moment the EU- Vietnam Free Trade Agreement is signed.

PM Dung and Swedish PM Stefan Lofven noted with satisfaction the sound relations between the two countries in 45 years of diplomatic ties. They agreed that the two should increase exchanges and meetings at all levels, and facilitate investment cooperation in the areas of green technology, creative innovation, transportation, and health care.

In a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny, both leaders agreed to boost cooperation in education and training, climate change, and agriculture.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb pledged to boost ties and support each other in international forums.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also held meetings with the leaders of Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Australia.

In his meeting with Swiss President Didier Burkhalter in Milan on Friday during the Asia Europe Summit, Prime Minister Dung pledged favorable conditions for Swiss businesses to expand their operation in Vietnam. The Swiss President expected an early visit to Vietnam and attend the opening ceremony of the Swiss general consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.

During a meeting with Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, both agreed to promote cooperation in transport, banking and green growth as well as an early EU approval of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and a bilateral free trade agreement between Vietnam and the EU.

On Friday, the Vietnamese Prime Minister also met his Polish and Hungarian counterparts to discuss bilateral cooperation.
