In the letter, the Prime Minister emphasized that Chol Chnam Thmay, a unique cultural feature of the Khmer and their biggest festival of the year, marks the start of the new year with faith, aspirations, wishes for goodness, a prosperous and happy life. It is also an opportunity to show filial piety and respect for ancestors.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister cordially sent to his Khmer compatriots and monks his close feelings, kind regards and best wishes.

The more than 1.3 million Khmer people are an inseparable part of the community of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups and are playing an important role in the cause of national construction and defense.

The areas inhabited by the Khmer ethnic minority people have recently seen major changes with the locals’ material and spiritual lives improved.
